About us

When SABLAYAN DIVERS opened its doors in October 2017 it was the youngest dive center in Sablayan, yet presenting more than 20 years of experience within the diving industry. This major know-how proves not only our professionalism but also our passion about diving!

Our primary mission is sharing this passion with our customers. Whether you already are an experienced diver, you want to improve your knowledge and abilities or you are just taking the first steps towards exploring the wonderful world under water: we always try to make your experience a special one and are here to help at any time. While aiming at offering the highest possible quality and maintaining a professional attitude you will find an informal and warm atmosphere on all our activities.

Although we already did thousands of dives at world famous “Apo Reef Natural Park” every single trip feels like a fresh adventure to us. Due to its remote location right in the middle of Mindoro Strait you never know what’s expecting you under water: turtles, sharks, huge napoleons, immoderate tunas, eagle rays, schools of barracudas, jacks, snappers, fusiliers or bumphead-parrotfishes – even manta rays and hammerhead sharks… Diving at Apo Reef is simply a stunning experience every single time!

About Apo Reef

Since 1996 Apo Reef is part of Apo Reef Natural Park and appears on UNESCO’s tentative list of world heritage sites. Together with its barrier zone this marine park covers around 275km²!

Apo Reef is considered as the second largest contiguous reef system in the world and the largest one in the Philippines. Its location in the middle of Mindoro Strait (between Mindoro’s west coast and Palawan’s north tip) make it a very remote place and a world class dive destination.

The reef itself consists of a northern, triangular shaped platform and a southern, more atoll like part, both parts separated by an up to 30m deep channel opening from east to west. While the main part of the reef is submerged, three islands mark its position on the surface: “Cajos del Bajo” and “Apo Menor” are primarily composed by rocky formations and hold little to no vegetation whereas “Apo Island” features a shallow lagoon surrounded by mangrove forests, providing food, nursery and spawning ground for several coastal and marine species of fauna as well as sanctuary for birds like the endangered Nicobar Pigeon. The island's characteristic lighthouse serves as a trademark and offers stunning views over the whole island with its picturesque sandy beaches.

Official papers mention almost 200 species of corals and around 385 fish species living within the marine park. Amongst this vast biodiversity, green and hawksbill turtles, whitetip reef sharks, huge napoleons, massive tunas, trevally, bumphead-parrotfishes, eagle rays, as well as schooling reef fishes and pelagic species are commonly spotted while scuba diving or snorkeling. With some luck you can even see visiting manta rays or hammerhead sharks!
